Valmont Site Work Sessions
BCRHS Workdays will be held at the Valmont display site on the 3rd Saturday of each month
from 10 to 2 pm. There is plenty of work for all skill levels and we look forward

Valmont Work Session Archive, 2004 Work Session Updates - Winter 2005 BCRHS volunteers have been busily working away this winter on several projects. One of the biggest has been the extension of our Push Cart track. This is 3-rail, with a narrow gauge switch. This track's still not done, but significant progress has been made...
New Track as of December 18th.
On January 13th, two 70 ton GE locomotives owned by the Sumpter Valley Railway in Oregon made it to the Valmont display site. They will remain here temporarily. One of the two has a a bad engine block and no trucks, and the other has a perfectly working engine but a crushed cab. Between the two, one diesel will be ressurected as a narrow gauge engine at the SVRY, and the other will be cut up for scrap. The first GE at the display site - lacking trucks and stacked on a Rio Grande MOW car.
The second GE at the display site - trucks and an engine, but no cab.

A crew from the SVRY came by the site during the January work session to survey the locomotives and salvage some useful parts off one of the diesels. They also helped us out with their cutting torch... Cutting rail. Picture courtesy Garrett Tollkuhn.

The February Work Session saw a number of new volunteers, as well as progress on several different projects. Our Standard Gauge (eventual) siding track was extended by a rail length and a half. The BCRHS had the use of a small tractor, thanks to Adam Glazier. Photo courtesy Garrett Tollkuhn
